Rosecroft Raceway to Host Anthony Agostino Memorial Race
Oxon Hill, Maryland- Saturday May 25, 2013, Rosecroft Raceway will join with the friends and family of Anthony Agostino to celebrate his life with the Anthony Agostino Memorial race. The race was an annual Rosecroft event before going on hiatus when the track closed. Now it is back, better than ever.
Following the race, we will present the Anthony Agostino blanket to the connections of the winning horse in the winners circle. Anthony was a regular at the track on weekends and summers, and his last assignment at the track was working for Driver/Trainer Donnie Russell. Anthony’s family and friends are forever grateful to Donnie for giving Anthony the opportunity to live his dream -- working hands on with harness horses!
Anthony had many dreams and aspirations pertaining to harness racing. He wanted to become a blacksmith after he graduated from high school and he wanted to train and drive harness horses just like his beloved uncle Jim Coughlin. Anthony was raised on a harness horse farm and fell in love with these magnificent Standardbreds early in his life and he never lost that love. We are proud to return to Rosecroft to support and carry on Anthony’s legacy.
To achieve that legacy, we need your financial help. In conjunction with the race in Anthony’s honor, we are auctioning off a framed, autographed Brian Orakpo Redskins Jersey. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Harness Horse Youth Foundation, a 501-3(c) organization that perfectly fits Anthony’s Legacy. All funds raised will support HHYF’s many outreach programs. Please visit their website at www.hhyf.org to learn more about them. If you cannot make it to Anthony’s memorial race at Rosecroft on May 25, please go on the Harness Horse Youth Foundation website and make a donation in Anthony’s name or you can send a check directly to them at Harness Horse Youth Foundation, 16575 Carey Road, Westfield, IN 46074. Make sure you note “Anthony Agostino” on the memo line of your check to ensure his support is credited.
The Harness Horse Youth Foundation is a charitable 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing young people and their families educational opportunities with harness horses, in order to foster the next generation of participants and fans. The Foundation has been making a difference in young people’s lives since 1976, and its programs include interactive learning experiences with these versatile animals, scholarship programs, and creation and distribution of educational materials.
