Scarlet Pandemic Wins Tuesday Night Feature

(Fort Washington Md. - Sept 17)  The five year old mare Scarlet Pandemic, owned and trained by Frank Gannon III continued her lucrative 2013 season by winning Rosecroft’s feature race of the evening, a $10,000 Maryland Preferred Open for fillies and mares in a time of 1:53.2.

The daughter of The Panderosa took early command, and left no doubt of  the eventual outcome, giving red hot driver Frank Milby one of his four wins on the night.  Milby has already visited the winners’ circle nine times in first two programs held at the fall Rosecroft meet.

Maryland’s own John Wagner also had a good night in the sulky, as he stirred three winners on the card.  Robert Kinsey Jr. made his first appearance of the season here at Rosecroft, and was a perfect two for two guiding both his trotting mounts to front end victories.  Second Hand News was a very impressive in fighting off a strong challenge from betting favorite Skyway Priss to take the nights’ opening race, the first division of two winners over trotting events on the evening, in the time of 1:54.4.  Kinsey Jr. came back two races later to light up the tote board with the Preston Kinsey trained Glide Manto Glide, returning $88.60 for the win, in a $8,000-10,000 claiming handicap trot, stopping the clock in 1:59.

The fastest race of the night belonged to Trevor Stafford’s Big Town Hero, as he returned from an extended summer vacation clocking a 1:52 mile coming off a qualifier in the first division of a winners over pace.  Art Stafford Jr. handled the reins for on the lightly raced five year old son of American Ideal.  Big Time Hero has now made the trip down victory lane twelve times in only thirty three lifetime starts.

Live racing will continue every Tuesday and Saturday evening through December 21.  Post time is 7:25p.m.
