Milby wins four,

Milby wins four, Gazzerro and Wagner score

doubles on Saturday night Rosecroft card

Defending leading driver Frank Milby had to take off a couple of drives on Tuesday night due to illness. He returned with a vengeance on Saturday winning four races including the night’s quickest of 1:54.2 with Scarlet Pandemic, trained by Frank Gannon III and co-owned by Frank, Joan and Frank Gannon Jr. This was Scarlet Pandemic’s second win in the top Filly and Mares race at Rosecroft this year.

Milby’s other winners came with Heavenly Helen in the second for trainer Philip Moore in 1:57.1; a dead heat winner with Furious Franny for trainer Clyde Oglesby in 1:55.2 and KJ Hannah  in the eighth race for trainer Jason Green.

Trainer John Gazzerro has three horses currently racing and had about a good a night as possible. Dawn’s Delight was pushed to the make the lead, faced pressure while there and simply refused to lose in her thirteenth career start. She set her lifetime mark of 1:58.3 in a gritty effort. After Mapiya held well after a first over trip and grabbed a minor share, the star of the stable Shaker Rei was handled aggressively, leaving for a two hole and powering to the lead with a quarter-move. Shaker Rei hasn’t been on the lead this early in any of her starts but showed she’s learned a new trick and easily drew clear to win in a lifetime mark equaling 1:54.2.

John Wagner also had a driving double on the evening scoring a hard earned decision with Studio City who he trains in 2:00.1. Wagner returned to the winner’s circle following the nightcap with Jukebox Money who left the field turning for home and was on cruise control to the wire for an easier than it appears score. Trainer Eli Scott trains the winner.

Racing action returns Tuesday night with a first post of 7:25 and a big twelve race card at Rosecroft.
