Year over Year Gains



(Fort Washington, MD – December 28, 2012)   Rosecroft Raceway’s recently concluded 29-night fall-winter race meeting showed significant gains in overall handle versus the 2011 comparable meet.


Total wagering on Rosecroft’s live races for the fall-winter meet increased 70% over the 2011 meet.


The 2011 season featured the resumption of live racing after a nearly three year hiatus with racing on Friday and Saturday evenings.   The 2012 meet had live racing on Tuesday and Saturday evenings.


“We are pleased with the wagering gains in this past meet and from the racing side purses were up nearly 50% from our spring meet,” said Christopher McErlean, Vice President of Racing for Penn National Gaming, parent company of Rosecroft Raceway.   “We understand this is a building process and the goal is continued improvement,” he added.


Frank Milby was a runaway winner in the driver’s standings with 65 wins and New Jersey based Michael Temming led the trainer standings with 21 victories.


Thoroughbred simulcasting returns to Rosecroft Raceway on January 1.   A full slate of Harness and Quarter Horse simulcasting is available daily.    Live harness racing returns on Saturday, March 9, 2013.    Information on the upcoming meet will be available at
