Ft. Washington,  MD—GooGoo GaaGaa did not disappoint the Washington-area fans. Starting back after a short break, GooGoo GaaGaa showed off his spectacular style,  winning the 3-year-old colt trot in the Maryland Sire Stakes prelims by 23 lengths in 1:58.1 for pilot Jim Morand Saturday night (Oct. 20) at Rosecroft Raceway.

Morand stepped in for regular driver Corey Callahan due to conflicts with the Breeders Crown races. Richard Hans owns and trains the Cam’s Rocket colt.

The 3-year-old colt pacers opened the non-wagering card. Hot Speed (Heat Zone) cut the mile with fractions of 28.1,  58.3, 1:28.4 crossing the wire in 1:56.2 for owner/trainer Thomas Leager and reinsman Vic Kirby.

Yippi Ki Yeah (Cam’s Rocket) made his first Sire Stakes start a winning won, taking advantage of a pocket trip behind stable mate Firecracker Freddy. Driver John Wagner eased Yippi Ki Yeah out past the three-quarter pole and slowly wore down the leader with a photo at the wire in 1:57.3. Roger Hans owns and trains.

Owner/trainer/driver Elam Petersheim was finally able to keep Perfect Tententen’s (Straight Up Lindy) mind on business in the 2-year-old colt trot, coming a last quarter in 28.2 to stop the clock in 2:04.2

Mrs Weasley (Tejano)  romped in the 3-year-old filly trot, crossing the wire 13-1/2 lenghts ahead of Little Australia in a new mark of 2:00.4 for owner Russell Williams, trainer Frank Ingrassia and driver Jacqueline Ingrassia.

In the first pari-mutuel race of the night, 2-year-old filly pacer Bonnie Ben Jamin (Cam’s Rocket-Jamin J) remained undefeated scoring in 1:58.4 for owner-breeder Brian Emerson,  trainer Judy Welty and reinsman Jim Morand.

Frank Milby scored the upset of the night in the final Sire Stakes for 3-year-old filly pacers. At the head of the stretch the field fanned out, all taking aim on the leader Brite Jet. When the dust settled, the photo showed Jukebox Money stopped the timer in 1:57 over Rockin Roxanne. Jukebox Money (JK Outlaw) is owned by Bay Pond Racing and trained by Eli Scott Jr.

All of the horses return to Rosecroft next Saturday (Oct. 27) for the Maryland Sire Stake Fall Showdown Finals.
