Live Racing Returns September 13!

Callahan and Bier score twice at Rosecroft

Callahan and Bier score twice at Rosecroft on Saturday night.

Trainer Alvin Callahan had a training double winning with the eighth race with Rocknroll Rhapsody, in rein to Wayne Long, who made it two in a row at Rosecroft. Ironically Ciera Rose, won the tenth driven by Frank Milby for Callahan and also made it two in a row at Rosecroft.

Driver Sean Bier made a rare trip to Rosecroft a successful one as he had three drives winning twice and finishing second in the other.       Bier started his night with a close up place finish aboard Can’t Slay Me in the first who was right there to a seemingly rejuvenated D Jokerman who won for owner-trainer-driver Frank Riviello. In the second race Bier rated a parked out Red Light through the opening quarter and made a decisive quarter-move to score an easy win as the favorite. Joseph Columbo trains the winner for owner Holly Cordisco.  On his third and final drive of the night Bier scored with a sharp wire to wire effort from Coronado Cavair who set a lifetime mark.

The biggest priced winner of the night was driven by Brandon Henley with a newcomer to his barn. Winbak Barry made a four deep sweeping move to circle the field on the backside and paid $31.00 for the score. This triggered a $319 exacta with Desert Turbulence finishing second.

Live racing returns to Rosecroft on Tuesday night with a first post of 7:25 pm for the giant 12 race card. Rosecroft has carded its first $7,000 Open on Tuesday and field of five include Abelard Hanover, winner in 1:49.2 in his last start; Complete Desire winner of two Winner’s Over in a row at Rosecroft; Shady Breeze three year old winner in 1:50 and race timed in sub 1:50 miles several times this year; Shakearosa winner of almost $75,000 this season and Caviart Tyler who shows a win two back and a solid place finish in the Winner’s Over last week.  The Winners Over trot features last week’s winner Baximum facing a field of seven including the always tough Four Starz Robro.
