Rosecroft Saturday Night Opener

Rosecroft Saturday night opener

Rosecroft’s Renaissance enters its third meet on Saturday night with a first post of 7:25 pm. The card has ten races with an emphasis on the younger horses, but two races of the popular eight year old and up handicaps.

The meet begins with a maiden trot headed by the morning line choice Rising On Sunday, owned-trained and reined by long-time Rosecroft regular Betsy Brown. This three year old filly is co-owned by Ursula Ayd and has great breeding being sired by CR Commando out of a Go Get Lost mare. In three seasonal starts this one has improved dramatically and shows a third and consecutive seconds in her last two starts. In the short field she looms the one to beat.

The eight year handicaps are races three and ten and in the third, H Hall is the one to beat for driver-trainer Wayne Long. This eight year old horse is owned by Gregory Burton and is capable of huge miles when in the mood, but has only made six starts on the year. Veteran Bucktown Badboy, driven by Justin Brenneman for owner-trainer “Doc” Davison, shows a win and second earlier this year and is the major danger.

In the nightcap Kenneth Weckstein’s Gold Comet shows some big miles at the Ocean Oval and looms the one to beat despite post seven. Ken will drive and this one is conditioned by long-time Rosecroft staple Kenny Schlotzhauer. D Jokerman makes his first start for driver-trainer Frank Riviello and has tons of backclass and is coming in after racing on the tough PA circuit. Fan favorite Mafia Hall has the five hole for trainer David Baker and will be handled by Bryan Truitt Jr., son of veteran teamster Bryan Truitt. Dana West and Sharon Baker own this one and he looms a major player here.

For all the latest information on Rosecroft visit and please remember we will be racing Tuesday and Saturday evenings again this fall.
