McKnows head Friday night card (11-11)

MCKNOWS heads Friday Night

Rosecroft card

Martin Burton’s Mcknows, trained and reined by son Brian, headlines the Friday night card at Rosecroft. First post is 6:45 p.m.

McKnows starts from the seven hole in the night’s sixth race and is the morning line favorite after three solid races this meet. McKnows has earned two wins when he’s been able to dictate the fractions, but the best performance may have been two back when he tried to circle the field and was right there to the wire, earning the show dough.

Justin Brenneman’s El Kabong seldom finds the winner’s circle but has three tight place finishes in his last three and is only a length short of a three race win streak. This one is the second choice from post six and will ensure that McKnows has to fire his best effort.

Another to watch is Cam’s Flirt, who scored a popular victory last week making amends for a show finish when heavily favored two back. Chris Welty will drive for co-owner and trainer Judy Welty.

Big Tejano looms the one to beat in the seventh race. Long-time Rosecroft driver-trainer William “Bill” Long trains and drives this one for owner Howard Hammond. This one has hit the board in his last four starts and was gallant in earning the show wth a prolonged three wide move in last after starting from the eight hole. This week Big Tejano should  be a lot closer early from the four hole.

Finally, Friday’s ninth race marks the return of classy veteran Four Starz Robro, who faces a field of six.  ‘Robro drew for a middle post after enduring a tough stretch before getting a short vacation. This one makes his second start on lasix and may need one here, but merits respect everytime he steps onto the track. Kelley Rogers owns this thirty-five time winner who has banked over $572,000.
