Woogen wins two on Saturday Night

            Dr. Scott Woogen, made the most of two drives at Rosecroft on Saturday evening winning both. In the first race he drove Four Starz F from the outside post. He was on the move second over near the half, engaged the game Silverado Hall in battle around the entire final turn and edged clear in the stretch for the lifetime mark setting score in 1:59.3. Silverado Hall and driver Shorty Robinson Jr. was easily second best.

            Woogen returned to the sulky in the third race and won by open lengths with Suwanee River as the odds-on choice. PS Emily’s Tuition was second best after contesting the early fractions.

            James Dodson scored his first win in a pari-mutuel race with DVC Freewaytofame in the second race after sitting in the third hole and shaking loose on the turn. DVC’ struck the lead turning for home and held sway to the wire for the score.

            Lislea Pat continued his form spree recording his second win in a row for leading trainer and driver John Wagner, and if not for a break three back would have scored for the fourth start in a row.  Wagner returned to the winner’s circle with The Travelling Man in the seventh race with a long, grinding trip from dead last at the quarter.

            Donnie Russell also recorded two victories on the night, winning the quickest mile of the night with Gold Like U (1:57.1) and with a wire to wire win with Jazzy Hanover in the fifth.

            Drivers Chris Welty, Ray Robinson Jr. and Brett Moeykens all recorded a win on the evening.

            In qualifying action on Saturday afternoon, veteran trotter Four Starz Robro made his return to the races a winning one with a wire to wire score in 2:02.4, last quarter zipped in 29.3. This son of Conway Hall has made 148 starts and won 35 times while banking over $570,000 for trainer Judy Welty and owner Kelley Rogers. He should return to the pari-mutuel wars in the next week or two.
