Big Week Ahead at Rosecroft

Work continues at Rosecroft, despite the weather, in preparation for the re-opening of the track on Friday night October 21. The track, closed for over a year until being purchased by Penn National Gaming will host qualifiers at 10 am on Saturday October 15, with the box closing on Friday October 14 at noon.

The box for the Friday October 21 card will open at 9 am on Monday October 17 and close at 1 pm. Scratch time for this card will be 9 am Wednesday October 19.

Racing will also be held on Saturday evenings this fall and the box for the first Saturday night card will open at noon Wednesday October 19 and close at 3 pm. This card’s scratch time will be 9 am on Thursday October 20.

Rosecroft will also be holding a rare evening qualifying session on Tuesday October 18 with a post time of 6:45 pm. Free programs for the qualifying card will be available and the public is invited to attend. The box for the Tuesday night qualifiers will close on Monday October 17th at 2 pm.<./p>

Horsemen have been happy with the track in both the qualifying and training sessions and are pleased with both the times that the track has yielded and the cushion that is safer for the horses participating.

Horsemen are reminded that they need a copy of their current coggins in their possession when they enter the backside at Rosecroft unless they have already given the race office a copy. In addition, each participant needs to fill out and return a Release and Waiver before entering the backside and they’ll also need to fill out a 2011 Racing Application before entering in overnights. There is still plenty of room for all classes of horses wishing to race at Rosecroft to apply for racing privileges.
