Wandishin to Head Rosecroft Racing Office

(Fort Washington, MD – September 26, 2011) - Mike Wandishin has been selected as Racing Secretary for Rosecroft Raceway’s upcoming live racing meet that commences October 21. It will be the first extended live racing meet at the track since the middle of 2008.
“We are pleased to have Mike join the Rosecroft team. His varied experience in the racing industry, combined with his knowledge of the local racing scene, makes him a good fit for restarting live racing at Rosecroft,” said Christopher McErlean, Vice President of Racing for Penn National Gaming, Inc., parent company of Rosecroft Raceway.
Wandishin’s racing experience spans across the Harness, Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse industries. He has held the position of Racing and Assistant Racing Secretary, Presiding Judge, Announcer, Program Director, Placing Judge and Clerk of Course at multiple racetracks. For the past eight years Mike has been instrumental in managing multiple duties at the Great Pocomoke City Fair, a popular stop on the Maryland harness racing scene.
“I’m honored to be part of ‘The Rosecroft Renaissance’ and the return of live racing to a truly historic racetrack. Even with limited resources from a purse perspective this fall meet the goal will be to put on the most competitive races possible for the wagering public and our horsemen. I look forward to the challenge,” said Wandishin.
Rosecroft’s 20-night racing meet commences Friday, October 21 with live harness racing offered every Friday and Saturday evening through December 17 with Thursday evening races added on December 8 and 15th. First race nightly will be 6:45 p.m. Rosecroft will also be open seven days a week offering simulcasting from Harness and Quarter Horse tracks from around North America.
